I am not one to encourage people to apply for Credit Cards, so I won’t! But have you heard of Target’s REDcard program??? They offer their own Credit Card or Debit Card.
If you shop at Target, AT ALL, I would recommend applying for their Debit REDcard. It’s a DEBIT card that withdraws funds directly from your bank account. It is NOT a credit card. There is no monthly bill, no monthly fees and no interest rates. You’ll usually see the debit on your bank statement within approximately 3 days after your purchase.
There are no tricks here. It is simply a Debit card that only works at Target! There are so many benefits you’ll receive if you have this card:
1 – FREE SHIPPING on most items at Target.com. You can literally order a bag of chips and have it shipped for FREE. I may or may not have done this before. 😉
2 – Extended returns. You’ll receive an extra 30 days on returns at Target or Target.com. The date will show on most receipts.
3 – Withdraw up to $40 at checkout!
4 – You can view your transactions online.
5 – You can add additional users – my husband now has his own!
6 – If you have the Target app, you can add your REDcard then use your Cartwheel and Debit card all in one place. Very convenient.
7 – 5% Discount at Target’s Starbucks locations. 😛
8 – Receive early access to special events, products and promotions. This past Black Friday, REDcard holders had early access to Black Friday deals. That was AWESOME! Also, they usually offer something FREE from the Target Deli a couple times a year, for instance popcorn or soda.
9 – THE BIGGEST AND BEST REASON TO HAVE A TARGET REDCARD…You will receive 5% off every single purchase you make at Target. Online or in the stores. It doesn’t matter if it is a piece of gum or a $3,000.00 television. Regular price, sale or clearance DOES NOT MATTER. 5% off always! There are very few restrictions like: prescriptions, eye exams, gift cards and a few others.
Just to give you an idea of the savings you could have, here is a picture of my very last receipt at Target for the 2017 year…
Just by using my REDcard (Debit card) every time I bought groceries or sneakers or school supplies I saved 5% off my purchases. Making it a grand total of $169.84 in savings for the year. Not bad. Now, this does not include all the savings I accumulated by using coupons, Cartwheel or cell phone apps. I’ll save that for another day. LOL!
If one of your New Year’s Resolutions is to work on your finances, I would highly recommend this debit card. When you combine sale prices, coupons, Cartwheel, cell phone discount apps and a REDcard, you can seriously save A LOT of money by shopping at Target.
